Cleaning Smooth Leather vs. Suede Leather

Smooth leather is very easy to care for and doesn’t require much attention. If your sandals have a smooth leather surface, you can simply remove coarse dirt with a soft brush or a damp cloth. Just be careful not to get the leather too wet—and that’s all!

Suede leather is a bit more demanding in care. To maintain the typical suede look, it’s ideal to regularly brush the leather with special brushes. This prevents the fibers from sticking together and keeps the shoes from looking greasy. Also important for suede: do not clean the sandals wet! Instead, simply use a soft brush to gently clean them.

Cleaning the Insole of Leather Sandals

After wearing the sandals for a while, dust, sweat, and dirt cause dark discolorations on the insole. These residues can be gently brushed off with a warm soapy solution. For extra effective brightening, you can also make a paste from water and baking soda and let it sit. Afterwards, rinse the paste thoroughly with water and let the sandals dry completely.

Important: Do not wash leather sandals in the washing machine or dry them in a dryer!
